Optical technologies connect countries: Israel meets Germany in Wetzlar and Jena

From 24 to 28 October 2004, a delegation of Israeli companies and research institutes will come to Germany to visit companies in Wetzlar and Jena, and to attend the Partnering Day in Wetzlar on 25 October 2004.

Renowned Israeli companies, such as Elbit, Elop and Semiconductor Devices will join the delegation. The profiles of the participating Israeli companies can be downloaded here:

  • Petrus Technical Supplies
  • Soliton GmbH (distributor of the Israeli companies Nanonics and Optimet)

The goal of the journey is to explore points of contact for cooperation between the German and the Israeli optics industry and research and to specifically initiate cooperations. The German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) offers several funding opportunities for German-Israeli cooperations. These funding opportunities will be presented at the occasion of the Partnering Day in Wetzlar on 25 October 2004. Industry-lead projects with partners from Israel and Germany –preferably 2+2 projects integrating research institutes or universities on a subcontractor basis- can be funded by the BMBF outside calls-for-proposals in line with the available budget resources. In addition, proposals for academic projects can be submitted within the scope of DIP (German-Israeli Project Cooperation). Eligible for the submission of proposals are the seven Israeli research institutes. The next call-for-proposals is scheduled for September 2004.
