Meanwhile representing more than 1.400 members from industry, research and politics the Photonics21 Annual Meeting has become the major event to the European photonics community.

Today we would like to draw your attention to the next Annual Meeting of the Photonics21 platform in January 2010 in Brussels.

The 4th Annual Meeting will be held at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Brussels, from Thursday, 14 January to Friday, 15 January 2010.

The plenary session starts in the morning of the 15 January, followed by work group meetings in the afternoon. We also invite you to join the evening reception on the 14 January at the conference hotel. The informal get together offers you the opportunity to share information, discuss strategies or even to set the starting point for future cooperation.

Topics of this years’ event are

  • Presentation and handing over of the 2nd Photonics21 Strategic Research Agenda to European Commissioner Viviane Reding (tbc)
  • First hand information on Photonics in the FP7 work programme 2011-13
  • International cooperation: special focus on the United States and photonics programmes on energy efficiency and sustainability (invited talk: Dr. Kristina M. Johnson, Undersecretary, US Department of Energy DOE, tbc)
  • Harmonization and coordination of member state funding activities in Photonics
  • Research strategy for photonics in Europe - the platform reviews 2009 activities and decides on action items for 2010

The registration fee has been set at 130 Euro (incl. 21% VAT) covering entrance to all sessions, lunch, coffee breaks and evening reception. As the Annual Meetings were fully booked in the past, registration at your earliest convenience is recommended. Registration will be processed on a ‘first come - first serve’ basis. Registrations must be received by the 18 December 2009 at latest.
